I’m doing something on Saturday that I never thought I would do. I’m lifting in my first olympic lifting meet! The Exile Open 2012 is the first USAW sanctioned meet in Oklahoma in nearly six years. There are 52 lifters signed up. Very cool!
I’m super nervous for a couple of reasons…..
I’m an over thinker. This is why I love to squat and deadlift. No thinking…just a pull or push. Easy! Olympic lifting is so technical. I’ve been working hard to get my technique better so I can be more efficient and use less energy. I’m feeling a lot more confident, but I know there is still a lot of self-doubt there that I just need to squash!
How do you even go about warming up and being ready in between lifts? I don’t want to get too anxious and over do it, but I don’t want to under do it and be unprepared. So much to learn!
My weight class is the biggest. A whole four girls! It is going to be a great experience. The only thing I’m hoping for is to be confident through the process. If I miss a lift then I miss a lift. I’m going to have fun, be confident and see what I can do.
On another note, training is going great. More on that in a few days. The Open starts in less than a week!
